It was such an unforgettable experience being able to join the UBC Summer Programme. The trip  does not only broaden my horizon but also enabled me to learn more about Canadian culture and enhance my English Communication Skill. Generally, I gained much more than I expected in the trip.

The dorm life is the first thing I would like to mention. This is the first time I have to live with my newly met schoolmates for one-month long. At the beginning, I was worried if I can get along well with them, since different people may have different habits and living styles, but it turned out that I got along happily with my friends. We helped each other when one of us had got into trouble. We chatted and shared our feelings. We discussed the knowledge we learnt from class. We played games and chilled out. It is great to live with them.

The green lifestyle in Canada also impressed me in the trip. I do appreciate that recycling is commonly being practised. People are conscious of protecting the environment they live. Besides, the organic farming and urban are so common in Vancouver. I think Hong Kong can view Vancouver as an example of practising sustainable development.

Learning is the main purpose for joining this trip, as the UBC Vancouver Summer Programme aims that students can learn knowledge and explore Canada. This program, with no doubt, enhanced my knowledge in the field of agricultural business, which is not so common in Hong Kong. During the classes, there are a lot of discussions which allow us to share our point of view, and different field trips are arranged to students letting us have a deeper understanding of the topics we have covered. The Professor there is nice and able to give out a lot of tactical examples to explain those theories. Also, English both in speaking and writing are improved as we got a lot of written assignments and chances to speak in front of the class. Studying at one of the top university in the world is a wonderful experience to me.

Outside the classroom, my friends and I have visited a lot of landmarks scenic spots in Vancouver, like Stanley Park and English Bay. The most unforgettable experience for me is visiting the Rocky Mountain. Those lakes and rivers are just stunning and from where I can feel how powerful and lovely nature is.

Last but not least, making friends in the trip. Undoubtedly, the dorm life has made this part much easier, which is one of the differences of UBC programme and other SAS trips. During the trip, I was able to stay with my schoolmates from CCCU, as well as people from Canada, Britain, the USA and Mainland China. They are all people with great minds. We  talked about things like sports, movies and cultures. They thought in different ways and had their unique point of view. Talking with them impressed and benefited me a lot.
